The weekend forecast

RAIN At least for Saturday. It has been a great week, clear and mild. I would really like a weekend of clear and 70.

Payday

Today is Payday. Even though I have direct deposit and my income is a fraction of what it used to be I still consider it a special day. I am so thankful to even have a job. With so many struggling to get by and looking for work. I feel blessed!

Spared

We may of received and inch of rain last night but we were spared from the brunt of the storm. Both North and South and West of us got hit.

Yard work was the order of the weekend. I could not drive on North side of the house this weekend because it was so wet.

Big day in Chicago today. Jackson if only your Grandma Patterson could be more excited about your arrival.

Caller number nine

I have been listening to the radio lately on the trip to and from work. and they give tickets away for various events. I keep trying to be caller number nine but always get the busy signal. They say call right now. I figure the least they could do would be to keep the line open for me!

I could tell you it's raining again. I could tell you a strange story of a resident at work. I could talk about if it dries up I need to do some yard work. I could say I am starting to think about Lent. I could say my boss is under pressure to trim management staff. But I won't, I will just say

Events

News events level of importance are set by the opposing news. If it was not for the earthquake in Haiti all we would be hearing about would be the election in Mass. That said, I think it would be a good time for Tiger Woods to make a Public appearance before we run out of meaningful news.

Frogs

The Frogs are very happy with the warm temps returning. Yesterday sounded like a spring day in April in Michigan. The frogs croaked and croaked. Now if we could make the days get longer faster. I notice the sun is just starting to light the horizon when I leave for work and it is daylight when I arrive.

The cold spell

The big cold spell of 2010 came with a price. The light bulb that I used to keep my engine on the deck boat from freezing failed. Because of this failure the starboard exhaust manifold froze and cracked. This is not too bad if that is the only place that froze and broke. Time will tell when I replace it and get it fired up.

Boat ride

If I didn't have to work today I would go for a boat ride. 65 and mostly sunny that's good enough for me.

Glad the weekend is here! It has been an easy week at work but I am still looking forward to the weekend. Rain and wind are forecast for both days.

I ordered flower seed last night. In a few weeks I will plant the seeds for the yard flowers. Lowe's were setting up for their spring stock in the garden center yesterday. If my memory serve me right six more days and the average temperature starts to climb.

Doctor appointment

I am going to family doctor today for may scheduled visit. The question is, do I type the list of ailments of do I hand write them. This getting old is a bummer.

the slow climb

Today we start the slow climb out of this cold spell. By the end of the week we should be just a few degrees below the averages. I have a feeling that we may lose a few plants this year. Palms are the most vunerable as well as hibiscus. I actually believe that my sidewalk leading to the greenhouse has raised a 1/8 of an inch due to frozen ground. In the five years we have owned here I have never seen the ground freeze. In past years my fountain would freeze up and form ice on the sculpture. This year the entire water basin is frozen solid.

All the hype

Schools closed, people were buying milk and zip we got nothing. Not even a flurry showed up in Milledgeville. It's just cold and the ten day forecast says's it will stay cold for at least 10 more days. What happened to an occasional seventy?

Rain Snow Ice ?

Nobody seems to know what were in store for this afternoon. I will be happy with anything but ice. Ice around here would stop the world from turning. This has been the longest cold spell we have experience since coming to GA. I will be taking a change of clothes and my meds to work today. If the ice comes I will be spending the night at work.

Additional Comment

Yesterday's blog talked about aging and if it is better for the body or mind go first. A co workers mother was hospitalized 4 times over the weekend. She can't remember that she can't walk. She keeps trying to get up. She got five stitches in her head on one attempt and broke her collar bone on another. State law prohibits restraining. What do you do with this situation.

One of our long term residents passed away on Sunday. I got to know him well for his room was right across from my office. I will miss the good mornings and the well wishes.

50 first dates

I have a resident at work that I have meet four times now. Each time is like the first. Yesterday I helped her understand her washing machine controls and when I finished she said it wad nice to finally meet me. I am learning that it is better to have your body grow tired than your mind. Hum, I forgot what I was going to say next. Oh well, Maybe tomorrow.

Toooo Cold

It's below freezing here again! What's the deal. Can we please have warm weather without rain.

I slept through the celebration for I am off to work this morning. The good thing will be that traffic will be light on the way in.

What's in store for the new year? One thing for sure, things will change and things will stay the same. The sure thing is that we will continue to be blessed the uncertainty lies with what we will do with the blessings.
