For a number of years today was spent at the Saint Clair Inn. It was kind of the prize at the end after preparing for thanksgiving. I guess those day's are gone. The Inn is not the same and fiances aren't either.
This Thanksgiving was the last for us as far as preparing and hosting the meal. Next year will be a year of transition for us. We intend to be in a state of flux as we slowly take pieces of our lives and locate them in Georgia. I intend to take a load of what every we decide makes the move each time we go. For all I know our table may be there next Thanksgiving.
Our family is slowly spreading across the country. It seams so strange, for we were a clan for the most part that stayed near our roots. Life changes, as well does our country, our desires and our needs. In years to come I will expect that I will cherish Family gatherings in a new light.
You have to wonder if there will be times where all will gather. It would most likely be for funerals. Holidays won't get it done. There are just to many blended families and obligations to be with all. If you stretch it a little you can see the blog media as the future of family gatherings. It's not the same. You don't hear the laughter, or feel the embrace. But you do get to share the life. It's the ups and downs and happy and the sad that a family shares that makes it a family.
As the numbers grow it is only natural the clan divides and forms new clans. But I marvel at the clan I was raised in. It was large and extended. Grand parents, parents, aunt's, uncles, cousin all withing about twenty miles. That's a thing of the past but I will hold on to that memory forever.
Today's thought:
Thank-You Thank-You, Thank-You Jesus for the way you guide and feed us.
