The weekend proved rough for the residents where I work. It started last Thursday with a fall and a broken hip. That was the same resident that fell off her seat on the bus trip a few days before. Then on the weekend came a stroke for one, hospitalization for another and then death for my little Italian Friend over at the independent living facility.
Mowed grass last night for the first time of the season. Things are really starting to green up around here. Azaleas are really coming into bloom. and the tress are starting to show their leaves.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Wet and then wet
It rain all day on Saturday. The lake level came up aver a foot in a matter of hours.
I was debating if I was going to pickup all the pine cones before putting my pine straw down, Mother nature answered the question. On Sunday I had no pine cones around, they had all washed away. Yesterday I worked for seven hours straight putting down pine straw. The bales of pine straw got very wet during the rain and I now know that it is better to put the straw down when it is wet. It lays better and it is not as dusty.
Well, Y'all have a good week!

Cherry blossoms and Macon
I never knew that Cherry blossoms were a big deal in Macon. On one street in Macon the Cherry trees form a canopy or a tunnel that you drive under, all the mail boxes have big pink bows on them. It is quite impressive. I seems that a large real estate company years ago decided to give out cherry trees to each customer that bought a house. This real estate guy is very wealthy now and there are a lot of cherry trees. And buy the way his farm and his residence is loaded cherry trees.

Oops
Took a group on a cherry blossom tour yesterday. We got everybody loaded and buckled in. Left the facility and on the first left turn one of the ladies while being buckled in still managed to fall of her seat and on to the floor. Turns out she was fine and we continued the trip with her not in an isle seat. If she only new how much paperwork that makes. Had to fill out and incident report. Another lesson learned.

New Plants
The photos in yesterdays blog show some new plants. Two of them ate Cali Lillie's
and the other is a multi colored hibiscus. I thought it was a yellow hibiscus when purchased, however yesterday when I cam home it had a second colored flower. It has four twisted trunks so for all I know it could have two more colors. What a pleasant surprise.
Yesterday I took a group to Whistle stop Cafe Of the Green Fried Tomatoes movie. It's old dirty and I was not impressed. Today I drive for a cherry blossom color tour. This is the third day in a row for a bus trip. I am getting a little behind in the maintenance biz.
Have a sweet one!

Diane and I are in the dumps. Are friend Phyllis was coming this week for a visit but had to change her plans due to a family commitment. We look forward to her visits and we were so excited. Now we will just have to wait till after Easter.

Soggy
It pretty much rained all weekend. A few hours of drizzle allowed for some work but for the most part it was a wash out. We did go to a few garage sales. We found a few nice items. One was a rain gauge and thermometer together, A small but beautiful fountain, and a Sony boom box that works and sounds great with CD player. ($2.00) that I think was the deal of the day! Also made it to the library for some audio books.
Let's all have a great week!

Rain?
They have been forecasting it but it just has shown up yet. It must be waiting for the start of the weekend.
I bought a green house this week. It is 6' x 8' and will be about 7' tall. It will primarily used to store plants in during the winter month to protect from freezing. And maybe a few tomatoes. It is in a box at the moment and will be a project for me in the future. For those who have visited it will go where the existing pump house is located. There it will get good winter sun and be somewhat protected from the summer sun. also that spot was selected because of the availability of water and electricity.
That's it for today. Y'all have a marvelous weekend!

Goodbye sunshine
The weather pattern is changing today. We have had a week of sun and high temps. Sometime today it changes over to what is suppose to be a week of rain. That should make the grass start to grow. I have had seen some places that have already been mowed.
The Christmas village is all boxed. and soon will vacate the garage. What about an Easter village? Crosses a and hill a tomb, garden the temple.
Have a spectacular day!

Picture perfect
Yesterday morning as usual Diane and I sit for about 10 minutes before I leave for work. Yesterday morning being warm and enhanced by a setting full moon we sat on the front porch. It was dark but the full moon enlightened the lake and the shoreline. As we sat there talking with coffee in hand two deer walked along the waters edge and across the bridge to our neighbors. It was a magical setting!
Have a fulfilling Wednesday!

Boat rides and moonlight
It was a great night! The air was warm and the moon was bright. Diane made a gourmet supper and then it was off to the lake. It's the simple things in life that...Well like the preacher said on Sunday "That really cranks my tractor".
Speaking of which. Sunday's church service was once again fulfilling and rewarding. The folks at this church have their act together when it comes to being user friendly. They greet you on the way in and the way out.
Well it's time to go!
Have a special day!

Demolition
The Christmas village is about 80% down. Diane worked diligently this weekend to get it all taken down. I cleaned the yard and did some smaller projects around the place.
I think it's a full moon tonight. If so and it's clear and warm we may go for a nighttime boat ride.
Have a spectacular week!

Pondering
I have been trying to see into the future. While still being happy to accept today and and take tomorrow as it comes. Things in my life are relatively good. and I am thankful for that. But I am starting to see the pain that world is starting feel. For some life is no different. For others life is changing by the day. I can't help feel that for most of the middle class that our live are changing in a big way but we just not in tune to as how much. I am not a fortune teller but I sense a shift. Soon we will be hearing about gun sales going up. Savings has made a dramatic increase while millions have lost there jobs. Top executives are taking the money and running. Is anarchy possible in this country? Is a total loss of government services possible? Could it be that we will come together as a country and revert to a time of family and neighborhood. Will we take people into our homes if we have one.
Will we share what we have? Our will we hoard and try to self preserve? A lot of questions and only one answer. In God we trust.

Hard times
I overheard a conversation at Lowe's the other day. Two men were talking about work. The one man stated he worked for the railroad for fifteen years and he has been laid off for the last two weeks. He said it was the first time in the fifteen years. The man he was talking to asked why he was laid off. He replied: There nothing to ship.
Also I read the other day that we are running out of places to store crude oil. So much for fuel shortages. Less than a year ago folks in Atlanta could not get fuel. And is was called a refining problem. What's it called today? A surplus of refining capability.
Question is: Will you ever trust the financial community again? You invested and saved as advised and look what it got you. And in the last ten years you financial community has given over a billion dollars to lobbyist and campaigns. That's a billion of your investments. I feel I have been used.
Have a good day!

Spring has arrived!
The ten day forecast is spectacular! Sun and warmth is on the docket and the weekend temps are projected to be in the upper seventies.
Last night I was reading about the financial melt down and the article talked about annuities and insurance companies being the next big problem. They thought that for many of us we will get pennies on the dollars for what we have invested. I have a feeling the bail out for many of us is going to be keep working till we are well into our seventies. Next we will be hearing about all the retirement funds exhausted and pensions that are no longer there. I feel so blessed to be working.

Getten Fat
Life in the South must agree with me. I have been ah gainen weight since my arrival. This has got to stop! The doorways are only 36" wide coming into the house. For starters they feed us all too well at work. Then there be the winter months, too much sitten time. As we say in the South I'm a fixen to do somethen about it. If they feed ya all to well at work and ya get super sized would liposuction qualify for Workman's compensation.
I'm a fixen to have a good day! You do the same.

Lookong further South
After watching it snow for several hours yesterday I am looking for a place further South. Saturday afternoon I am boating in a tee shirt and less than twenty-four hours later it's snowing. What am I in Michigan? It was a very depressing afternoon for me. Silly I know but never the less true.
Tried a different church yesterday. It was a exciting experience. It was a praise worship format with a very good sermon. I am sure we will go back for a second look.
Y'all have a great week!
