Ash What?

That is about what Ash Wednesday relates to down in the Bible belt. We went to service on Wednesday but it wasn't quite what we are use to. I am not sure but I bet the Lutheran Church in town has no Lenten services. I suppose my preparation for Easter will have to come from within & above. Maybe I should go see the Episcopalians! I guess you could say I am stricken and afflicted.

Surprise

Yesterday while working on a residence The resident informed me it was her Birthday. Happy Birthday I said! She said, thanks I can't believe I am Ninety Two. Surprise! I would put here a not a day past Seventy Five. Later in the day I was working for her neighbor and I said I could not believe she was Ninety Two. The neighbor said she agreed and the this lady was her idol. Come on down Dad I will fix you up.

Inherit

I inherited some problems at work when I took the job a BV. We store 480 gallons of hot water at any given time, I notices some rusting of galvanized pipes at the base of our storage units and warned corporate of an electrolysis problem. I got the quickest response ever. They sent a maintenance guru from corporate down to take a look and he agreed. The Director pf Maintenance however does not understand electrolysis and didn't think there is much of a problem. He suggested rather than replacing just clean them up and make them look good. One stroke of the wire brush yesterday and water appeared. Electrolysis had eaten a hole through the pipe. So yesterday I was a plumber and got one tank fixed, today it is on to the next tank.

It's just fascinating reading don't you think?

Another week

A new work week is upon us. Diane will be spending her's at home today. She put her back out on Friday at work and is still on the mend. I however am OK and ready to go!

I charged up the battery on one of the jet skis this weekend. Just getting ready for the season. but I still had to cover the flowers last night do to the cold. I did see a guy water skiing on Saturday. Somehow 55 and sunny does not add up to water skiing.

The ten day forecast shows 80 degrees next week. That's sweet.

Our hyacinths located outdoors bloomed yesterday. It was worth getting down on my hands and knees to smell the fragrance.

The tornado kill one person about 10 miles to the Northeast. It also destroyed a small church.

A Night of Storms

They started about seven last night and lasted till about two. A number of tornado's and many thunder showers. We were spared from the rough stuff but did loose our power at about eight and it stayed off till about One Fifteen. At 12:25 I got a Voice mail notification but could not answer because all our cell phones were down. This drove me crazy! Was work trying to reach me. Our Computer phone was out due to the power outage. I could not confirm. So I lay awake. It was Nell, she left a message at 9:30.

Alone again

Joyce and Mark made the trip North yesterday and took the cold weather with them. It's fifty this morning. I like that better than thirty.

The stimulus plan has been signed now for a day and I still don't feel the difference. I thinking of taking a head in the sand approach to investments. It seems as if the banking and financial sector did. Is it true what you don't know can't hurt you? I did not read the our financial summery this month. Oh well I am thankful for a job that my old body can perform. and a life that I like and cherish.

Today I will work a half a day to compensate for working 12 hours one day last week. It is going to be a mostly sunny day so I look forward to goofing off and enjoying the day with our company.

Train

I here the train whistle of in the distance this morning. It's such a neat sound the way it travels down the waterway. I often think of the engineer going about his shift wondering if he enjoys the ride or if it is just a job. To be in command of such mass and force, arh! arh! ooh!

I looks as if the seventies are gone for a while and the sixties are going to be the norm.

The heat pump install is complete and if it wasn't for a new unit outside and a new thermostat you would never known they were here. The unit outside is the same tonnage as the unit it replaced but it is twice the size. big equates to efficiency I guess.

Midweek

To clarify yesterday's blog, We as in Diane and I are getting a new heat pump. Happy Valentine!

We wake up to 53 degrees this morning, that's sweet.

A mild cold front is headed our way today. Rain is possible and winds are predicted. but its a mild front and we are expected to loose about 10 degrees.

Heatpump

Tomorrow we are scheduled to get a new heat pump. This is one of the things on the to do list. We are upgrading from a 10 seer unit to one with a 14 seer rating with a variable speed fan that brings it close to being 15 seer. That makes for a 33% increase in efficiency, I can see the savings piling up already.

Sweet

Spring hit in Georgia this weekend and it was great! Sunny and low seventies both days. We worked around the house, went for a boat ride and Diane even got some sun on here face. Why is it I don't like to pick up sticks when its 55 but I do when its seventy? The other thing that was interesting happened about 1:00 on Sunday, the lake came alive like the Fourth of July. We had five boats going by at the same time.

Bright

When I arrived home last evening the sun was reflecting on the lake and coming in the front windows. I thought for a second that I was seeing the burning bush. The radiance was amazing and it warmed my heart as well as my house and body. The sun and Son are truly gifts from God.

Looking to a great weekend

This weekend the sun is going to shine and the temps are going into the seventies. That is do some yard work and go for a boat ride type of days.

Diane is still fighting a sore throat and cough and all the other stuff that comes with a virus. Maybe today she will head back to work.

Turns out that February is the easiest PM month at work. About 16 more hours and it is in the books for the month.

I long to boat

It's cold again and I am looking to go for a boat ride. It's hard to believe but I am ready for this winter to end. I have grown tired of fifty & sixty degree days, I want seventy. Its in the mid twenties this morning and as forcasted for the teens tonight. That's frozen pipe weather around here. Yes, I will be the one whining when it's ninety.

Getting Better

We are five residents away from being full at the Suites assisted living facility. There has been an influx of residents this past few weeks. Hopefully this trend will continue. Things were quiet over the weekend and I had now surprises when I returned.

Perfect

The weekend trip went like clock work. All the flights were on time and the car rental for a dollar was perfect. Squeezed in some visiting time so all was well.

So, today I start an new month another round of preventative maintenance. It looks like it might be a good month.
