The road less traveled

Thanksgiving is past and the road to Christmas begins. This year, being in a new environment at home and at work will change the journey considerably. The tree is up and it looks grand. We have not secured the right permits yet so construction on the Christmas village is stalled. However the site is selected and approved. There most likely will not be Advent services, We won't get invited to any Christmas parties. And the absents of snow will seem different. (In a good way). No matter how it all plays out it will be great to celebrate the birth once again.

Have great weekend!

Thankful

I have many things to be thankful for this year. One being that I am able to say that every year. I believed this will be the first Thanksgiving Day I ever worked on. In many ways I am thankful for that, today as well into the past.

I wish all are military personnel could be with their families today. We need to remember to be thankful for them.

Thanks be to God from whom all blessings flow.

Happy a great thanksgiving!

The old fig

Seems as there is not going to be a new fig in the pudin at work. The gal has changed her mind and is staying. I am glad to see it. She works hard and she's a good Christian.

Another cool morning today it's down to 34. Tomorrow promises to be great! Mid to upper sixties and sunny.

Diane has got the next 5 days off. That would be fun. However she is suffering a bit. She had a crown done yesterday and the dentist drill her tongue with his de-burring drill.

Y'all have a nice day!

Not much new!

Life is good! Living my routine. Friday at work will mark the start of decorating for Christmas. I wonder if being paid to do it will make me dread it less? I hate lights that don't work after being tested. And to think about taking it all down. I dislike that even more.

Have a nice day!

Cover up

I put the covers on the Jet ski's yesterday. No more jet skiing until March. I did manage to get in a boat ride yesterday. It was sunny and cool but enjoyable non the less.

I cleaned gutters yesterday. I still hate that job! I should have bought a house with no trees. I would estimate that about 65% of the leaves have fallen and with another good rain we could loose a few more. Some of the trees here hold their leaves almost all winter. I noticed this week that even though the temp went to the teens that the hydrangeas still look good.

Be thankful and have a great week?

Drug Screen!

Yesterday we had random drug screening at work. That was a first for me. I think all passed. Also yesterday one of our management team announced she will be leaving going back to Nevada. She longed to be home in Nevada and he marriage is in trouble. I hate to see her go but I think it would be good for her. The Director has a former co-worker in mind and hopes to get her in place soon. We all get along so well ya just hate to put another fig into the puddin. But then again not to long ago I was the new fig.

Y'all a spectacular weekend!

Every little bit helps

I received my second pay increase in 1 1/2 months if this trend continues this could turn out to be a real career. Just dreaming, It's not going continue. That will most likely be it till next fall. If gas prices stayed low. that is like a raise. At $4.00 gallon it's 12.50 a day to got to work. At under $2.00 that's $6.00 a day. That's a $30.00 dollar swing.

Have a full day!

It's cold enough to freeze the tits of a boar hog!

I don't know where I picked up that saying but it applies today. It's 28 degrees at the moment and I don't like it. It is only going to 55 today. This is a average December day around here. Where is the global warming? I haven't been on a boat ride in over two weeks maybe three. I can see it now, when is 90 gas will be 4 dollars again. OK! I will put a cork in the whine.

Have sweet day!

The village

This years Christmas village is going to be in the garage. It turns out that it is the only room large enough to display it. I am thinking of putting portable heat out there for when the holiday company comes. I got an addition twenty + buildings from a resident at work and with the 30 + we had the village has grown.

Have a nice day!

Got Lucky!

It's not what you think! I have been having problems with my electricity going to my work shop. It failed a while back and i tried to splice it underground. It failed again so I spliced it again and filled the junction boxes with silicon hoping to keep them dry. Apparently this did not work. and instead of shorting out the wires managed two send all 220 volts down one wire. This decided to smolder in a strip outlet in my shop. It was a metal strip and it actually melted some metal. A black spot about 2 foot around appeared on the wall and it fried my battery charger and my large outdoor light. and burnt the hair on my shop brush. Why the place did not burn down I have no clue. It would have taken our Expedition, my vacuum and all my John Deere's. As well as all my shop tools and thing in storage above.

Have a great day!

Wet

We are having our third day of rain today! One can really get used to blue sky and sunshine. Granted it hadn't rained in weeks but I still favor the sunshine. However, it is nice to wake up on the 15th of November and have it be 60 out.

Well the weekend is here again. That will mean a trip to the Library and some yard work. Also,I need to make a clothing adjustment in my closet as well as in the dresser. You quickly learn down here that you don't need that much in the line of clothing.
With my new job khakis and short sleeve Polo's are the dress of the week. And the weekend can be shorts of jeans. Sweatshirts are of use in the winter.

Enough babbling, Have a nice weekend!

Why are we here?

That has always been a question with not much of an answer. I am not talking about people as a whole I am talking about Diane and I in GA. Diane is finding her presence and values are needed in her work place. As for me I mention to my boss that I have no idea how I ended up here. She laughed and said she knew why. She claims it's because of the prayers that she and her superior prayed. She said they prayed often for the right person. So far that's the best reason I have for making the move. On a personal basis I still love the weather and the lake. But if God wants me at Baptist Village that's where I will be. Displaced and full of grace.

Have a nice day!

Do you feel any different?

Do you feel any different now that their is a new president elect? I so hated the election adds on TV. We have a Senate race down here where the two candidates ran ads every 15minutes each. One right after the other. Election day came and they tied and there is a run off on the second of January. The adds are still on every 15 minutes. I should read a book instead of watching TV.

have a tremendous day!

Another day in Paradise

Happy belated Birthday to Pam!!

This weekend at a garage sale we found a small plaque that reads "Just Another Day In Paradise" I hung it by the walkway next to the employee entrance at work. So far no one has voiced any disagreement. What's funny is the perception. Some think it's sarcasm and others believe it is just that. Our Director try to make it a fun place. She always has a smile and is always a positive person. So most of us try to follow that lead.

Give a veteran a hug today and thank them!

Nice weekend

We had a very nice weekend! They where typical fall days. a little below average temp but nice just the same. Did a lot of work around the house and started prepping for cold weather. Sat on the dock in the afternoon and soak in the sun. Here it is November and I am still in the pinch me mode. I can believe it can be this nice.

Have a sweet sweet week!

Falling behind

It's a bit scary at the start of the month when the preventative maintenance schedule roles over. Especially if you still dealing with issues from last month check. Every month is a little different subject to annual, semiannual, monthly, weekly and daily checks. Each month I find more things that have been neglected and need attention. Couple that with all the needs of the residents and it makes for a lot to do. This week alone I was ask to change the time in eight different places. And yesterday not one PM item got checked do to excess meetings and paper work, and general maintenance. But I still love it!

Have a great day!

Nice

Having to work outside for a short while yesterday beads of sweat appeared on my brow. On November 5th how nice is that.

We have a resident at the Villa's (that's out independent living facility) that is moving to the Suites (assisted living) and had decided to give all off here house hold away to Baptist Village. We have decided to set up a furnished respite room at the suites in her honor. Talking about the move with my director, Two men and truck moving company was mentioned. She said no. You can do it. Yikes.

Have a spectacular Day!

The darkness

Living on a lake is not quite as enjoyable when its dark minutes before you leave and minutes after you arrive home in the evening. I do enjoy the nigh time view under a full moon but that only happens once a month. I will have to get my looks in on the weekend.

I have not checked yet who the next president will be. I am sure it will be Obama. As to it all, The elections that is. I am glad it's over. And as in all the other years I put my faith in a higher form of government. That is, The one who is always there. The one that is both conservative and liberal Loving and caring and didn't spend a dime to get elected.

Have a great four years!

Evaluation

I had my Ninety day evaluation on Friday. I guess I could say it went well. It was a two page evaluation. I had no deficient areas and written at the bottom was a note from the director saying I exceeded all expectations. And she told me I am more like a partner than an associate. Now if I can parlay that in to more money we will see. She said if we can't get more money maybe we could buy my fuel. That would be a $2500.00 a year raise.

Y'all enjoy the day! I am fixen to.

Way off

I was an hour off in my sleep pattern before the time change. Now that the change is here I am two hour s off. I would like to stay up later as to sleep longer but I fall asleep too early. It will either get better or I will stay this way till spring.

Oh Yah! It's November and it's going to be 74 degree's today. Ya gotta love it!

Have a sweet week!
