It's a good thing !

I actually am enjoying the hour drive to work in the morning. Windows down, CD playing it's a time to reflect.

Having a little trouble sleeping at night with the new job, I wake up early and keep running the responsibilities through my head. Today will be a long day. We need a third shift fire drill and I am the one who performs it. My office/storage room is looking a bit better.

Friday start a new month. That's a big thing for me at work. Preventive Maintenance is a good part of my job and it cycles by month, quarter and year. This being my first cycle. For instance the filters on the HVAC units need to be changed. No big thing, but! there's ninety of them.

Promotion

I worked four hours and got a promotion. My ID arrived from corporate and I am now a Director. No worries though, I still get to change light bulbs. I have a little golf cart style truck. I think the thing is slower than I am. I will try to take some photo's and get them posted. Gotta go.

It's True

Today, it's off to work I go. I am the new plant operations manager for Baptist Village Plantation Suites. It's an hour drive but I anticipate it being a wonderful job. Last night we went for new crayolas and a spider man lunch box. Not really but we did go for a couple of pair of khakis and and some new work shoes.

Off to Macon today to complete the second step of my TB test for my physical. I hope to to find out tomorrow what the offer will be and when I start.

We have another hot week in store for us. Mid nineties all week with high humidity.

On the run

Got get out off here and head to the doctors this morning. Then it's of to Macon for a job physical. That's a pretty good sign. Like I have a job if I pass the physical. Thanks to all my references. Got to get into the shower my appointments at eight.

A new day

Nothing much new. The job front looks great they have called one reference that I know of. And I talked to the director yesterday and she commented on how nice it was to meet me on Tuesday. Been car shopping for a another fuel efficient vehicle. I did the numbers and with the price of fuel as is. It will help the budget if I have a vehicle that gets over 30 mpg as long as I don't spent to much on the vehicle. With Diane driving every other week with a vehicle that gets 25 mpg and me every week at 30 mpg it should keep the fuel cost down to just a ridiculous amount.

I have been working on our budget. Lord willing I will have a income soon. There wont be many thrills in the new budget. The John Deere collection will not grow any that's for sure.
Money will be tight, but it will be good preparation for the retirement years. There are still fish in the lake so I we should not starve.

On the job front

Yesterdays interview went extremely well. I lasted an hour & a half which included a tour of the physical plant. If I don't get the job I will be extremely surprised and disappointed. I was told it was down to five or six candidates. But when I asked the head interviewer that question she added that I was definitely the front runner. After I got home I got a call from the director and she said they had forgot to have me sign a release form for a background check. This also is a good sign. The place is really nice. The hallways of the advanced care facility ( nursing home ) are like a hallway in a very nice hotel. Large baseboard. painted columns and bordered carpet with inlaid patterns. And the assisted living complex is a gated community with 45units. much like a duplex / condo style structure. I hope to get the call this Friday.

Big day today!

I am on the short list for a job and today is the day of reckoning. I am being interviewed by the corporate staff of an large assisted living community. This is a second interview and I don't know if I am the only candidate or one of many. God willing, I will arrive, interview and be considered for this position.

We had a storm last night that just went to the North of us. It lightninged for hours. If we could only harness all that energy. Makes me wonder what state we would be in if we had all the energy we needed. Would life be better or worse. Energy is power and power can sometimes corrupt. If you could harness lightning you could probably make a laser that could eradicate a small nation from across the world. (All this just from a thunder storm)

Lazy Lima Bean

I was not very productive this weekend. The heat holds you back a bit down here. It is forecasted to be close to 100 today and that will be hot hot hot.

I noticed this morning that it was a little darker when I got out of bed. The days are getting shorter. I suppose for all you teachers, you are over the hump and starting to think about how many days you have left to enjoy not working. I like the idea of having another three month of summer time weather here.

I drove the new John Deere to the neighbors fish fry Saturday night. It was a big hit. Sunday my neighbor said I could have sold it six times over.

Finish line

Today I will finish the project for my neighbor. I hope it will take about 2 hours. Then it's back home to clean house.



It happened again last night. Just about dark I said to Diane I am going down to sit at the water. She said she would come also. While we sat there and marveled at the peace I said, Ya want to go on the boat. So out we went. We headed to the west for abut 10 minutes and turned around. And just like the last time there was a full moon, we got surprised. A beautiful full moon rising over the trees in the east. I think from now on I will keep track of the moon cycles and plan to go out and witness the the event. God is an awesome creator.

The price of things!

Last night I went on an estimate. It was for a lady who needed two new steel gates installed on her property. I estimated that the project would be about $200.00 dollars. Se said that was outrageous. She said she had a price from a guy for fifty dollars and he lived 25 miles away. I felt like telling here that I would charge fifty dollars for a 50 mile round trip. The thing that gets me, if you have a price for fifty dollars and you are still getting more estimates are you looking for someone to do it for forty.

HOT & HUMID

Yesterdays work turn out to be very hot. It was only 91, but by 3:30 I had had enough. I was dizzy, stiff necked and had to sit more that I worked. Overweight & out of shape & old is not a good combination. Dehydration may have been a factor. I weighed four pounds less when I got home. I am all for loosing weight but not 4 lbs. in 7 hours. Well its more of the same today. If I every get a job down here it better be in a air conditioned environment.

Gettin to it!

I am fixin to go get some materials this mornin to do a handy man project for a neighbor. It will be hot hot hot workin on the sunny side of the house. I'll just have to pace myself.
Haven't spent any time down by the lake in the last three days, the fish flies have taken over again. They should all be dead by today.

As to the size of the new tractor. It started out in life as a garden tractor/mower if that helps y'all.

I am back!

We have an Internet connection and all is well.

I had a great job interview last week and am optimistic that I might get a call at the end of the week. But I have been there before.

As Joyce mention for some reason I bought another John Deere. I have no use for this except as a conversation piece and or parade vehicle. I had this off the truck for five minutes and two cars stopped and commented. I am now looking for a miniature combine. We had thought about building an addition on the house. but I think we are going to need a barn.

I am sure I will end up in that loony barn.

IHOP

We're fixen to go to IHOP this mornen for pancakes. And then off to were Diane works to show Rachel an Andy where that is. Yesterday's weather was perfect. R & A got a little sun. We boated and did a few things around the house.

We're fixen to get a little rain for the weekend. That makes the fireworks hard to light. Y'all enjoy your holiday and treat it as such.

Turned the corner

I think Diane has turned the corner to recovery, Yesterday was her best day since the surgery. We will see how today goes.

Today is stay home day and enjoy the lake. We are close to record lows for the evenings but the days have been upper eighties.

A perfect day

Today is looking good. There is not a cloud in the sky, no wind and humidity is low. Andy and Rachel are down on the dock fishing. Diane is still in bed.

Today would be a good day to get a call for an interview. I have applied for so many I am not even sure were a call could come from.

I am not sure what activity will be on the docket for today. When Diane gets up we can see how she feels and go from there.
