Labor day weekend
Diane and I must be confused, as it turns out we both will be working this weekend. This is a far cry from weekends at the cottage that we used to enjoy on Labor Day weekend. Anyway, Y'all have safe travels and a fun weekend.

Happy belated Birthday to Heidi! I envy your age, and how you feel when you are that young.
Funny thing, yesterday I wanted to mow a little grass before church. I jumped onto the newest Deere turn the key and like always it started on the first turn. But it died a second after and would not start. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out it was out of gas. The thing that strikes me funny is that I backed it in and parked it a couple of days before without any sputtering or missing. It has a reserve tank that fills up when you fill up the tractor but for some reason when I brought the tractor home it was on reserve and I used up that fuel. It's seems that when I buy something used I am always waiting for something to go wrong.
It just dawned on me that if I had to fill up all the riding mowers we use it would cost over $30.00 Yes the times are ah changing.
It's Thursday, try to find a garage sale and help the economy.

Mid Week
The project I am on was projected to last all this week. Somehow we kicked it out in 2 1/2
days now I am looking for something to finish out the week. because the next project is not quite ready. There is always paper work! And I do have inspections and meeting to show up for in the next couple of days.
My little side project is coming along also. Last night I completed all the tile setting now it is on to grout & trim followed by a new kitchen sink.
My head cold seems to be on the downward side this morning. I hope it stays there.
Amanda & Suleyman have called three times from Turkey. Amanda said it's beautiful there and they are having a good time.
Have a good day!

Oversleep
I oversleep this morning. That is probably the first time in twenty years. I forgot to set the alarm and with working extra hours and taking Nite Time cold medicine. and of coarse having a head cold I sleep till 6:45. The rest is nice but my work ethic is bruised. Never the less I will still be to work on time.
Have a great day!

A summer cold
I have developed a head cold this weekend. I probably picked up a germ flying, I usually do on flights of any length. Anyway I have a stuffed up head and a runny nose.
Like showed in Andy's blog we did go to Indiana Saturday to pick up the John Deere. So far so good, Other than the deck needing painted it looks almost as if it's off the showroom. Time will tell on the mechanical condition. I have almost put two hours on it and it seems to be running fine.
Well that's all for today. Y'all have a great week!

Assisted Living
Assisted living that's for me. Fred and Nell moved in to the assisted living facility yesterday. As far as I can tell its like staying at a fine hotel and having your meals provided. White table clothes at meal time. Waitresses take your order. For a lazy individual like me it's a great life. Did I mention bingo to boot. The bad part is it cost about the same as a fine hotel.
Going to make the trip to Indiana for the John Deere tonight and tomorrow. I hope all the rain is through before we go. Seeing as Diane and I will be mowing Fred and Nell's grass now I think I will store one of the Deeres at their house so we can double up on mowing speed.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Andy!
Andy turns 23 today. On the 23rd, that won't happen again. Oh! I wish I could be 23 again. Anyway, I wish I could be with him to celebrate. Too bad we both have to work for a living. Just think about 39 more years and Andy can think about retirement. That time will go by quickly.
Once again, Happy Birthday Andy!

Put me out to pasture
Today the heart seems OK but my left knee is in bad shape. I don't know if all the flooring I've been doing lately caused it to flair up or if it was all the walking in California. Either way it is hurting and it makes it hard to kneel down.
I plan on going to Indiana this Saturday to pickup the John Deere. This should be a fun thing to do. Maybe we will go on Friday night and make a night out of it. However, the entertainment budget is empty do to the wedding travels and dining.
Amanda leaves for Turkey tomorrow, I hope all goes well.

Once again
Just like last Saturday morning I am in A-fib again. This is getting a little stupid. I don't remember ever having it happen this close together. It is very mild this morning but never the less still there. Maybe the pace maker is the way to go! I just don't want to feel that old.
The wedding was great! A few bumps here and there to make it memorable. but all in all it was great. Jet lag doesn't appear to be too bad this morning. I forced myself to sleep early last night to get back on schedule.

Up up and away
It's off to the West side we go. I wish I could just be there. I love the excitement of flying I just don't like to fly for more than a couple hours. I sometimes just get tired of being on that plane. The last couple of hours can really get tough. I am like a child, when it comes to flying. If you can keep me occupied I will be OK. I guess time flies when your having fun. It would help, I think, if I could afford first class. Larger seats and leg room would be a plus. But I would probably sit there and think about what else I could of done with all the money I spent on this first class seat.
Y'all take care now, Ya hear.

Good morning!
Yesterday I started installing a natural cork floor. It has a look of its own. but it is a very slippery floor. With work boots on you can actually slide 3 feet with just a little momentum.
I think it is going to be a hazard. I am glad it was supplied by the home owner. and its soft, you can take your fingernail and make an impression in it.
Last day before the trip West. A six day rest sounds good about now. I hope I can find some during the trip.

Getting a little tired
Been working nights and weekends the last couple of weeks. I am starting to feel the effects. Things like waking up to the alarm, yawning in the morning, sore this sore that. Anyway two more work day's and it's go west old man go west. I am looking forward to seeing where Amanda & Suleyman call home. I also want to jump into the Pacific. Well that's it for today.
Y'all have a good week.

John Deere for sale

The John Deere collection got a little bigger yesterday. I have been wanting a John Deere 318 It is considered by many the best garden / lawn tractor built. So last night I got a 1987 model with less than 600 hours on it. So now it's time to sell my JD 170 lawn mower. The photo you see is of the new 318 it is currently living in Indiana close to Fort Wayne. We have had good luck buying things in Indiana. We have bought our car, boat, & a TV in Indiana and now the tractor.
Have a happy Thursday!

A Gift
This morning I was given a gift. There was a deer about 50 feet outside my window this morning. I enjoyed watching it graze on the grass. It's one of those simple gifts that life gives you but never the less I enjoyed it just the same.
I start installing cabinetry today on the project. The cabinetry is a mix of ebony and stained cherry. The walls are sharp yellow, with stained pine bead board wainscoting. and cork flooring. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together.
It's going to be 91 today and in less than 60 days we may need a fire in the fireplace.
Fall it's my favorite time of year. Other than a Georgia winter.
Well, it's time to pack my lunch. Have a great day!

Rock & Roll
I have been listening to it rain and thunder for hours now. I really enjoy that sound. The grass is going to start growing again and it should turn green from all the nitrogen it received last night & this morning.
Diane had a great birthday yesterday. Thanks to all who commented a birthday wish. And thanks to the Tigers for a comeback win to finish off the day right.
That's all folks, Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Birthday Baby
My best friend in the whole world turn 54 today! Lucky for me she's my wife. For 38 of those 54 years we been hanging out together. Everyday together makes life a little better. We have been growing up together and I hope when we get all grown up we will still have enjoyed the trip. Lately the day's have been a little stressful, but God willing that will all get behind us and life will settle down a little. I love my wife and I hope that God will continue to bless her as he does me with her presence.

Overtime
I am starting an after work & weekend project tonight. It involves custom tile work for my friend Phylis. If I have the stamina I would like to complete it before heading to California. However it's a lot of intricate tile work. And I can't work dawn to dark like I used to.
I've noticed the blogging is getting a little sparse lately. I assume everyone is out enjoying summer.
Well it's another day another dollar. So I owe I owe it's of to work I go! Have a great weekend!

Going the distance
Seven years ago today Andy started driving a 1996 Escort. It had seventy thousand plus miles. We bought it off the road side of Telegraph road. I amazed to say he is still driving that same Escort. It has almost double those miles now but it still keeps going. Frequent oil changes and not being heavy on the pedal have proved well for this vehicle. I think if Andy were to buy a new vehicle with proper care he could make it last forever. Also, I thing we must add that Ford
Motor Company created a vehicle was on the low end of cost but at the top in durability.
Well, that's all for today. Talk at y'all tomorrow.

Ally update
Monday, Ally had surgery to repair her broken pelvis. Tuesday she was unhappy about it. She did well and regained consciousness after surgery like normal. While under anesthesia they removed a tooth that was loosened during the accident. When she returned from surgery there was a jar full of change on the gurney and it said it was from the tooth fairy. On Sunday, Ally operated a computer using the mouse. She still has a little ways to go with the typing part. It sounds like if things still keep going well she may be sent home in the near future. I think a lot of it depends on therapy and how she responds. All in all she still heading in the right direction.
Have a nice hump day!
