Happy Birthday! again

Today is my Mother in law Nellies birthday. She is one of the hardest working people I know and is the greatest mother in law a guy could have.

I have a busy day today, Blood work, doctor, pick up some material, etc. etc. it feels great! I received a permit yesterday for a federal grant project that I have been working on for a year. That really working hard to get a job.

It's going to be a busy weekend. Saturday we are having a party for Nellie, I have two sermons to deliver on Sunday and I start a new members class between the two. Tonight we have a birthday dinner at Nellie & Fred's. And somewhere in all of that Dad is celebrating his Ninty- first birthday. And Andy and Amanda will be home to boot.

Oh ya, And I have a trailer full of stuff of Amanda's to unload and ready for garage sale.

Y'all have a great weekend. Safe travel to Joyce and Mark!

Happy Bithday !

Happy Birthday to my good friend Barb. Barb and I have experienced a lot of things over the past 25 years. We have worshiped, traveled and drank margaritas together many times. And I don't see that changing any time to soon. Happy Birthday!

I delivered the sermon last night. I am still the chairman of stewardship and for that reason I got to speak. Community is still in financial trouble. Our recent split has drove us only deeper into financial hardship. It never ceases to amaze me what churches go through. We truly are made up of sinners. Good thing God promised never to flood the whole world again. Or I might be looking to the sky more often. When it comes to controversy in a church family there is never a good and final resolve. Someone always holds pent up feelings, and is always looking for a way to settle the score and be a still be a Christan along the way. Some leave to get even. Some stay to get even. Some even comeback to to get even. It's sad how so many people can disagree on the correct way to go and make disciples. When it comes to church battles there never is a winner. except maybe Satan.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my good friend Phyllis. Phyllis is my right hand at church. And she also spent the week in GA with us last week. She said she had a good time, however, we made her work most of the time. Phyllis has the gift of helps. She is the glue that binds a lot of things together. If you need information ask Phyllis. She is truly a blessing from God.

Starting to plan for a Memorial Day weekend garage sale. God give me strength. Need to get lean and clean in the coming year. You would think that when we moved 2 years ago and had a huge moving sale and filled a 20 yard dumpster that we would be lean and clean. Nope, I have three lawn mowers here, two utility carts, a bagger, a lawn sweeper and a lawn trailer, a gas powered edger. 2 bicycles, an electric leaf blower, a gas leaf blower, two snow blowers, and two hedge trimmers, and a pruning pole.
In GA. I have 2 lawn mowers , 1 utility cart, 1 lawn trailer, 1 grass bagger 1 gas leaf blower, one electric leaf blower, one hedge trimmer and a pruning pole. And I have a few other tools to get rid of. Just to name a few. Yes, I do think it is a illness.

Lot for sale

There is a lot for sale on our street in GA. it is 5 lots South of our home It has 50' lake frontage with shallow water, a fence and a single lift new boat house. Asking price $325,000.00 if this lot sells at this price it won't belong before I will not be able to afford living in the neighborhood. When I look at the buying and selling on the lake it makes me want to be a real estate salesman. It seems people get laked out about after about ten years. I just can't imagine getting tired of the view. When I wake up in the morning there it is the first thing I see. I never shut the shutters I even enjoy looking out at night.

One of the projects I did while in GA was to install mooring post on the dock. I really like the look and am now looking for a cheap source of manila rope to cover the PVC boat bumpers .

Have a great day!

I'm Back!

It's true, I'm back and its time to put the nose to the grind stone. The trip was great! Travel was good and the weather was so so. A week ago Sunday I think was worst day I have spent in Georgia. It started out at about 38 degrees with 35 mph winds and never got much better the whole day. However as the week went on I did manage to enhance my tan. Mixed a lot of work and play. Got my workshop enhanced and in better order. Clean carpet in the house. reorganized garage storage and shelving. Moved furniture in and out. In the yard I mowed and trimmed trees. and trimmed hedges. Oh yea I forgot, I created a fountain with my bronze fish.
As you can see we created a garden center in the garage using Diane's grandmother Hoosier cabinet. ( Our neighbor Barb said; We all don't decorate are garages down here).
That's about it for today! 66 days until the return trip. And the Georgia pile is already started.
I can tell already this summer is going to fly bye way to fast.
Have a good week!

Bye Bye

In a few hours we will be on the happy trail. I think it might be a drive in the rain at least for a while. If I am reading my body right I might be getting a cold. My sinuses are pressured and I just feel a bit lethargic. I hope I am wrong. Well I have got things to do, talk to y'all later.

Ready set Go

A few more items and the trailer will be loaded. It's only about half of what I stuffed in on the first two trips down. I wish I had a big balloon to inflate and fill in the void. That would help from things moving around. That could be my claim to riches I could invent the shipping balloon. They could come in all sizes. Just think, you could fill them with helium to help lighten the load. I am looking for investors.

Have a great day!

Must have been

It must have been a busy holiday. Not many posts this weekend. A lot of things to do and a lot of roads traveled. This week will bring roads to be traveled for Diane and I. and lots of things to do. We will head South on Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will bring the things to do into the picture. Three months worth of lawn clean up, Hedges to trim. unload the trailer. move furniture. dust vacuum. At this time of the year down south everything gets covered with this yellow dust from the pine trees. It only last until a rain comes but it cover almost everything. It's a real pain if the boat is left uncovered. I look forward to it all.

Have a great week!

Now what!

My computer woke up in Slowville this morning. If you don't know where that is it's located on my computer desk. I'm ready to go and it's holding me back. My hard drive is starting to make noise again it would probably be a good time to back up all my files.

I came across this article yesterday. it explains a lot.

CLENDENIN, W.Va. - A group of boys playing with mercury swiped from a dental office created an environmental headache for one small town after tracking it into their school, homes and church and up the steps of the public library.
Five of the 25 students who handled the poisonous substance showed high levels of exposure, but none suffered serious health risk, health officials said Wednesday.
"It was shiny and made interesting patterns when you drop it," said Dr. Kerry Gateley, director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. "From a 10-year-old's standpoint, that is fascinating stuff."
The fourth- and fifth-graders took about 4 pounds of mercury, used in some dental fillings, from the vacant and apparently unlocked office early last week, authorities said.
They played with the toxic substance for several days, with one student reportedly trading a pair of sneakers for some, before school officials learned about it Friday, said Clendenin Elementary School Principal Karen Scheer.
Health officials spent the weekend removing contaminated items from the steps of a public library, two classrooms at the school and a gazebo at a public park in the town of 1,400, Gateley said.
About 200 people were expected to be screened for exposure, Gateley said.
Short-term exposure to mercury vapors is not considered dangerous. Long-term exposure can affect the brain and nervous system causing behavioral problems, such as irritability, followed by tremors.
Mayor Bob Ore said the boys walked through an open door at the dentist's office, which had been put up for sale after the doctor suffered a stroke 18 months earlier.
"Boys will be boys," Ore said.

I played with a lot of mercury as a child. Truth be know the South West corner of the second floor at dads house is probably a toxic site. Now. about that nervous twitch I have!

Have a good day!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Wally and Linda 26 years.

The wind is howling outside and lucky for me I will be working inside. I am surprised I am not scheduled to be on a roof somewhere. I hear winters back for a few days, how unfortunate. I was getting to like that spring feel.

A week from today we head South. I heard gas prices started to drop again yesterday. The drop in gas prices can be a big help. For every penny it drops I will save 79 cents Each way. It doesn't sound like much until you total it all up. At current prices it is close to $400.00 round trip. Pulling the trailer is the big reason for the low MPG. But it still beats walking and carrying all that stuff.

Don't blow away today!

You know what?

I believe I was about 13 or 14 when I ask for and received a set of craftsman tools for my birthday. I still have most of those tools today, and have added to them quite extensively. Well for my 54th. birthday I received more craftsman tools. This time they have large print laser etched into the side so they are easier to read. (It's a getting old thing.) I love tools and as I lay in bed this morning pondering the value of tools I came across this thought. For many, its off to college to acquire some of the tools they will need to go through life. For me I went to Sears. I wonder if I am ready to receive a diploma yet.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes! And have a safe day!

Enough all ready

Normally I enjoy a little slow time at work. It's a good time to heal up the body and catch your breath. It's going beyond that now. Contractors are dropping like flies. Mostly the larger ones for now. I never thought it could get this bad around here. I have said it before about moving to GA wondering if it's God's plan or our own. It's looking now like it could be a great blessing. It might be nice to have a home in an area with a better economy. But let's face it it could get bad there also. Then again, I have did the same job now for over thirty years. For most in my generation that is not the norm. I have read many articles about my generation changing profession late in their career just for the change. Where is my crystal ball? Oh to only know what the future will bring.

Have a good week!
