The group

Amanda's blog reminded me of the group that has formed via the computer. We all seem to share the ups and downs of life in and around our families, by way of the computer. It a great tool! We are able to share thoughts and concerns whereas we can all go to Lord in prayer. Just think if all Christianity blog and shared their thoughts and concerns. It could be like the scene in that Jim Carey movie where he is God and is answering prayers on the computer. If nothing comes from blogging except the sharing of one's pain and one's joys it is all worth it. I hope you all find peace and comfort today as we continue are journey to the cross.

Over budget

We received our electric bill for the home in Ga yesterday. It was up 100% from this period last year, so now I am wondering if it's been that cold down there. or did I leave the thermostat a few degrees warmer or did something get left on. It was still only $55.00 The month before was about the same amount however we were their for eight days and that attributes to the increase. Maybe somebody moved in for a week. I should fly down and check. Let' see a plane ticket is 260.00 and car rental another hundred all to save 25 dollars. I guess that don't justify flying South. I doubt if we left something on, we have quite a lengthy check list. It seems to get longer every time. Oh well! it's only money.

Have a blessed day!

Another Monday

I am so listless lately I was hoping it would snow today so I could put off what little work I have. That's what slow time will do to you. Ater a while though you get so sick of the boredom you jump at the chance to do something profitable. Springtime is also a good motivator. I long for a sixty degree day. Until then I will continue to whine.

Have a good week!

Being Bad

I'm not going to work today. Whats up with that? Maybe I will stop in later after have my blood work checked. I think my motivation for this is that Diane is off today. I had wanted to go away for the night, however Carol ( sister in law) is flying in this evening. And with Fred's feet turning purple every now and then we need to stay somewhat close. So I will waste the day away in some other fashion.

Have a great day!

Early Bird

I am up a 4 am this morning. Amanda's flight arrives at 5:10 am and I am the designated driver. I did however go to bed at ten. Between the medication and the early rise I will most likely need a nap sometime today.

I have been doing a lot of number crunching pertaining to retirement as of late. I wonder how much John Brandes had set aside. It's unlikely you don't plan to live 45 years past retirement age.

Have a warm day!

The Doctor called!

Let's get to the heart of matter!

Monday I get a call from the cardiologist office. The analyzed the info an the Holter monitor and wondered if I can come in in about and hour. That's not good. I seems I was in A fib when they put the monitor on me. More medication and higher doses are the next step. I am now on Cumaden its an anti coagulant. I don't think this is good for me but I will give it a try. It is such a bad drug you are to use a soft bristled tooth brush and electric razor to shave. and going to the dentist is a whole other case of concerns. I also got a 100% increase in another drug and a 50% increase in another. The drug that was increased by 50% is Toprol, it take the energy right out of you. I have to take it morning and night now just show the side affects are less severe. I think it all stinks. If this latest move don't get it done cardio conversion ( electrical shock ) is an option as well as cardio ablation ( freezing or burning of the heart ) . What's strange to me is they can't stress the danger enough at the doctors office. but yet, when I went in last week with palpitations they never even checked my pulse. Go figure!

Have a great day!

Days gone bye

Nine years ago today Diane & I were staying at the Del Coronado hotel in Coronado California.
We also visited Tijuana. Financially those days are gone for a while. Maybe some day while in retirement we we be able to afford to travel like we had money. I do however love the low budget trips to GA.

It supposed to be close to Fifty by the end of the week. Bring it on.

I am out of work now, Rick our employee has been laid off. So now its time to try and not go crazy till more work comes in.

Have a great week!

Back to Normal

Happy Birthday to Amanda!!
I wish we could spend your birthday with you. This is payback for your (was it your 16th) when we were gone.

So I go the the cardiologist yesterday. They didn't take my pulse, check BP or anything. I could have been in A fib and they didn't check. They did slap a recorder on me and said if you have an event push the button. I said what do you consider an event? The nurse says anything out of the normal. I said push the button. She did and she said we can check that tomorrow when you drop of the recorder. and of coarse 1 1/2 later my heart went back to normal rhythm and has been that way since. Now what? It's like have something hanging over your head just waiting to fall on you. It's so random its hard to figure out what to do.

Have a great day!

No Change

Heart is still fluttering. Today I am forced to seek medical treatment. I hope I don't end up in ICU. Last time seemed to be such a waste. Wish me luck.

It's back

While I write today my heart is fluttering around. Not real bad but never the less it's not normal. I was hoping the medication would put this behind me. So today I will lay low until my rhythm return to normal.

Amanda made it out to California on time. I wish I was there. I need to clean my driveway but not until the heart gets on pace. All in all a good day to stay buy the fire.

There is a lot going on today! A snow storm, a new project to start (outdoors & indoors) and get Amanda to the airport. There will also be parking lot to clear. driveway to clear. Here it is 6:00 am and I am already tired out. If it is any sign how the day will go this is my third attempt to blog this morning. blogger keeps shutting down. Yesterday my computer worked great today its all confused again.

Drive carefully!

Fresh Start

Monday, A fresh start to a new work week. Still cold with a little snow and no thaw in sight. We are dog setting again and last night it didn't go well. Riley ( the dog) has allergies and last night spent the night scratching at her legs. That wouldn't be so bad but the dog has to be in contact with humans at all times. She laying against my feet as I type, and would rather be in my lap. If you lock her outside the room she cries. if you let her stay in the room she scratches. I think I was awakened fifty times last night. She has medicine for this condition but for some reason it was not effective last night. I need a nap.

Have great week!

Great Times!

Last evening Diane & I and three friends went to Moro's for dinner. Our server who is the Co-Manager and head waiter is also the owner of the house that we have just completed working on. WOW! did he show us a good time. Moro's doesn't take reservations, It only holds about sixty people. I told him during the day that we would be coming at seven. When we arrived the place was almost full and he had a table waiting for us with antipasto already on it. We spent three hours eating dinner last night and it was all just wonderful.

I forgot to take my camera yesterday so no photos today. I will be meeting the building inspector there today. So if I can remember I will take some photos.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Another great service

I got to experience another great service last night. The sermon series about David has been great and the music was top notch. Last night we had a men's quartet Jim, Al, Bob & Jeff were really fun to watch and listen to.

Saw a few neat products at the show yesterday. One was a small portable tool that wood make gutter guards out of aluminum coil stock. One company was giving out their version of an easy button. It was a foam outhouse. Everybody wanted one.

I will try to remember to take photos of the project we are completing today and post them tomorrow.

Enjoy the heat wave.

Heat wave

+ .5 This morning I think I will bring out the Speedo and go for a dip.

I can hear my hard drive inside the computer grinding away. This can't be a good sign. I have had computers in the past that I always could hear when processing but this on has always been relatively quiet. I would rather not shell out the coin for a new processor. I now think about what life would be without a computer. It would be like trying to do construction without a Sawsall.

I am going to the CAM expo today. It is a trade show for general contractors. Most of the show is tailored to the larger contractors but you still get introduced to a lot of new products & tools.
The show in the past has been held the Silverdome and is now at the Rock financial showplace. That makes it less of a drive and therefore less of a time commitment. My job that I have been working on for the last two month should be over tomorrow. The last coat of urethane will be applied today and few items tomorrow and it's over.

My knees are telling me there is going to be a change in the weather. I hope they are right.

Have a great hump day!

- 3.3

It's a relative heatwave compared to yesterday's low. My computer must of spent the night outside it's very slow today. Standing in front of the wood burner seams to be the best option today. I bet the people in northern Minnesota think we are wimps. Closing the schools just because its cold.

In just over 400 days hopefully I will be thinking about a new career path and a new climate. Blogging may become my main form of communication with all the northerners. It all depends if I will be able to afford a phone or Internet service. The financial aspect is the scariest part of the relocation. Jobs, medical insurance and the like will play a big part. Trust in the Lord, Always! I need to invent that solar powered boat. or better yet one the is fueled by water. This relocation would be a lot easier if I would wait to age 59 1/2 or better yet 62. I have been researching the pitfalls of early retirement and it's financial impact. The first five years are the most critical. There seems to be a balance point of needs verses expenditures. The key is knowing how long you are going to live and if you want to leave enough behind for your kids to retire early. The funny part is you just don't know what the future will bring. All the planning in the world may not prepare you for tomorrow let alone the next day.

Stay indoors if you can!

-5.5

Upon waking this morning and looking at the weather station on my night stand the reading was - 5.5 degrees. This kind of temperature is not good for living mammals. Flesh freezes quickly at this temp. I think thetemperature in Milledgeville this morning was extremely low 26 degrees. And I believe it was heading to the mid fifties. I got a phone call on my answering machine yesterday, all they said was I bet it's warmer in Georgia. Saturday night I went to the wood shed (my trailer) and the door was frozen shut. I think the gas company is involved. If I had to work outside today I think I would call in sick. Global warming? Where is it when ya need it.

Top of the morning to ya

It's ground hog day! Odds are the critter will see his shadow and declare 6 more weeks of winter. I say we shoot the little bastard. and declare today the first day of spring. It won't change the weather but it might help my attitude. Ah, probably not.

Easy day today. Doctor appointment in the morning, office work in the afternoon. Delivered an estimate last night. I knew I was way over budget going in. Not a place you like to be. I haven't got the job but there is still a chance.

Tonight we are going to a friend house for dinner. It will be and evening of fun and laughter.
Spaghetti will be the main coarse and a game of nude Mazola twister will most likely be the entertainment. Try to wash that mental picture from your head.

Passion

Last nights sermon was about having a passionate heart for worship. It was one of the finest worship services Community has ever had. In fact many didn't leave when it was over. The Holy Spirit was definitely present. I don't seem to be passionate abut much these days. I like to play around with the thought of a new John Deere lawn tractor. and most of my thoughts are of moving to Georgia. But I wouldn't call that a passion, more a intense desire. I still have passion for the Lord but with moving in the future, career changes, and an uncertain future it makes you wonder how God will use you. I also wonder if moving is in keeping with God's will or just pleasing my desire. I guess more prayer is needed to make the future steps. It's funny, I wonder if getting to move is a blessing from God for being a good and faithful servant, or a call to be a better and faithful servant in a new location.

I will need to ponder this thought and seek passion in my life. if not here maybe on this porch. I am afraid that my Passions are succumbing to my age. That would be a shame. I wonder if God has ever granted a new and glorified body to people on Earth. I wish I had the body of a twenty year old. Maybe when we get to Georgia I will find a Pentecostal church and seek out a healing.

Hey! At least I didn't complain about the weather.

Wise men still seek Him. Have a great day!
