Get away day

It's here!! I am going to the office to try to get another estimate out & then its bye bye Michigan. Hello Georgia.

Yesterday Pam commented on how I was that I could remember when I play St. John but wondered why I could not remember a line. Well Pam, In our home we have a life event calendar. For the past 23+ year Diane record events in peoples lives, Birthdays, vacations root canals, new jobs even the first time I had coffee with her at home. (that's another blog).
Every year she transfers the information from last years calendar to the next year. Today's space reads 98-ABC Toronto trip. Amanda went to Toronto on this day in 1998. It is a great way to reflect on the past on a daily basis.

Blog Y'all when I get back.

St. John

15 years ago today I performed a solo drama as St. John. I remember the dialog was 13 type written pages. I also remember practicing for weeks. I thought I would never forget that dialog. However, as I sit here this morning I can't remember one phrase. That's old age for ya.

Last full day today! I am prepared to go at home, the car is loaded. At work, that's another story. I've been pushing hard to get the current project as close to completed as possible. That way my coworker Rick isn't left with so much. But when you push like that you fall behind on the estimates. I guess some folks will just have to wait. I don't think I will get the kitchen, the dormer. And the kitchen extension estimates done by tomorrow, unless I don't work the job today.

Today's thought:

Save the whales. collect the whole set.
Diane bought these the other day.
I told her she had a nice pair.

Short timer

Happy Birthday to Jason!

As far as work goes this week I am a short timer. I will be bailing out on Wednesday afternoon. And be on the road soon after. I am looking forward to it to say the least. It's still like that Disney commercial. "I'm to excited to sleep".

Smile & say cheese

We had a Early Birthday celebration last night. My Birthday falls when we will be in Ga & Jasons is on Monday. Amanda is going to be out of town this weekend, so last night was the night. We went to dinner at Mexican Town in Detroit. The big news is that everybody went together and purchased me a new digital camera. It's made by Cannon and is a six megapixel.
It is soooo sweet. Thanks to all family member who chipped in. And for those of you out of town, I wish I was with you, and taking photos.

Almost

We almost had to set up chairs last night for overflow at church. Pastor Dave delivered the sermon. That's always good for attendance. In the past when he would go on vacation attendance went down. Now we just don't announce the vacation.

Not much else to talk about. So ya'll have a good day. Stay warm, and wish spring would show up.

Nothing New

A week to go and away we go. Daddy are we there yet. How much further dad. There are not many things I have a youthful excitement for these days, but traveling is still one of them. I love to go places. For me it's not so much were I may be going, it's just the excitement of going. Car, plane, bus, train it really doesn't matter, I just like to go! For me travel is like special event.
I think it stems from my childhood. Dad always made travel an event. We would look at the map the night before, and put the car top carrier on top the car. Check the tire pressure. It was sooo much fun. I should skip work today & drive to Alexandria and meet up with the family.
That's the trouble with with owning your own business, no work no pay. Plus the fact that I will be gone ten days this month already.

This is the day

This is the day that the Lord has made. I wish he would have made it a little warmer, because my toe's are cold.

I bought a waffle iron for my new members class. When class is in session I always make breakfast, It has kind of become a tradition. The angle is, that when you have food and the church smell good existing members come around, therefore they get to meet the new members. What I am looking for now is a great waffle recipe. So, if any of you fellow blogger have a great one please send it on.

I am going to be a painter for the next 7 work days. I am really playing the part this time, white Sherwin Williams pants and tee shirt the whole nine yards. Painting is relatively easy, you can do a lot of thinking when you paint. However, it can be hard on the body, all that getting up and down.

I am really getting anxious to head to GA. Fred & Nell are going to make the trip with us this time. We will not be pulling the trailer this trip which makes it a little easier. We probably should be pulling the trailer, the going to GA pile is becoming quite large. I am not sure we will get it all in the Expedition this trip. Maybe I will tie stuff to the roof. Kinda like the Beverly Hilbillies. Hillbillys ?

This will be my last full week at work until a little vacation to Georgia. It was rainy there yesterday. Officials had to postpone the Nascar race in Atlanta. I will be working indoors till I leave for GA that should be nice especially if the weather stays cool. ( Could I write any more fragmented)

Pastor Dave had a great sermon yesterday. It was about Christ calming the sea and how we must trust God to calm the rough waters in our lives.

Today is the first day of spring. Better yet it's the last day of winter. I will rejoice in that all day!

Pinch Me

Well I am fully dressed for work and now realize I have no green on. Well so be it. I'm not Irish anyway.

You sure can tell it is tax time. Mike P. Has dropped off the blogger planet. Take a break Mike and show us your still alive.

I am so glad the weather man was wrong. I didn't want to see snow anyhow. I am already noticing buds on some trees. And birds galore! Cardinals, Robins, BlueJays and many more.
My vote is for no more snow for this season. Bring on sixty & sunny and let life begin. I want to see tulips in less than five weeks. And I am not talking about the ones at Walmart.

Today's thought:

A day without sunshine is like, NIGHT.

The Pearl

Grandma Pearl passed away 24 years ago today. She was special! She was just as a grandma should be.

Two weeks from today I will be in the green state of Georgia. I wonder if the hedges need trimming? That a good size project. I could use a gas operated hedge trimmer, but they tend to get a little heavy, so for now I will stick to a 100' extension cord. And my garage sale Black & Decker trimmer.

Lenten services must be getting old already, attendance was down last night. I would guess low 200's The passion about the passion must be starting to wane.

Today

It is three years today that Mom left us and received her reward. Heaven is a better place. Earth however has a void. I miss the calm reassuring outlook that Mom would always share. The way she could put light on what was important. And laugh about what wasn't. I would like to hear, "give your mother a hug" one more time. It's true we all still have the memories of Mom, but it sure would be nice to be creating a few new ones.

Lake front

It seems both homes I reside at are lake front now days. The field behind the home we rent is growing in lake size. It's no wonder this home has triple redundant sump pumps.

Today I am doing replacement windows in a church basement. The wind should make it quite a challenge. I think I will start on the side that is blocking the wind. If there is one.

Showers

March showers bring April Flowers. I like the sound of that, But we are in Michigan and we could still get a foot of snow. In about three weeks, I believe daylight savings time returns. Other than going to work in the dark for awhile I like the extended evenings.

Saturday was a great day! I washed all the windows on the exterior the house. Burnt a couple of piles off brush from all of last years radical tree trimming, and had Fred's Big Birthday Bash. The seven of us had fried noodles. And the Grand kids did the reading of the reasons. (See Amanda's blog) It was a fun day.

I wonder if this reading of the reasons I love my parent, Grandparent. etc. Will become a tradition. I told Amanda that my 53 birthday is coming up an I wondered if she might think of 7 or 8 things about me. Lucky for Amanda & Andy they have great Grandparents.

Warm

I had to turn the fan down on the wood burning fireplace this morning. That's a good sign of warmer things to come.

We had a deer in out back yard this week. It is the first one we have seen since deer hunting season. And we have Robins all over the place.

My syatic nerve is still giving me problems. It comes, it goes, It's a pain in the ass. As for the knee my diagnosis was correct, torn medial meniscus ? (I am sure that is not how you spell that).
It's and old injury, The doctor said he can go in and clean it up. 4 to 6 week for full recovery. I am not sure I want to do that.

Grill

The Cooks have a new gas grill, The old one got like it's owners, old and worn out. The new one is a Jenn-Air all stainless steel with 45,000 BTU's of raw cooking power and 734 square inches of grilling surface. arh arh arh.

Had over 200 in church for Lenten services last night. I know that is good attendance, but where are the other 600?

Three weeks from today we will be in route to GA. It's kind of like the Disney commercial. I'm to excited to sleep. On this trip I hope to figure out why the power trim on the boat is leaking fluid. Change the oil and filter on the boat. And launch the second jet ski. Also if time allows and I have the energy, I will build steps to the shallow area off the dock & replace some boards on the lake yard swing.

Thanks

Thank You to all who prayed for me yesterday. The nerve problem wasn't to bad at work yesterday. It tightened up overnight so now I am waiting for the drugs to kick in.
I have an easy day today. Hopefully it will loosen up a bit and the inflammation will go down.

On the brighter side. the warmer weather is uplifting. I started reviewing the boater safety manual for the coming season. It's been in the upper sixties & lower seventies in Milledgeville this week. I can't wait to see the Green!!

Tired of the pain

Pain wears you down. I have either had a bad knee or syatic nerve problem for over a month now. I think I had one day where either of the two didn't cause pain. And today isn't one of them.
Yesterday our hot water heater failed. Just what I wanted to do when my back was hurting. But Ice cold showers aren't good for the back either. Today I have some scheduled work that requires my talents. I hope this syatic nerve thing will calm down as the day goes on. Sometimes it works that way. Sometimes it gets worse. ( PRAYER IS REQUESTED HERE)

3 in a row

Well, I have now had three good nights sleep in a row. It feels soooo good.
Computer was being stupid this morning, I lost about 20 minutes giving it an attitude adjustment. Last night Diane & I went to Jason & Amanda's for diner. Cashew encrusted chicken, like the sleep it was sooo good.

300 +

We had over 300 in attendance for church last night. It seems like great attendance. I often wonder though, if you have a membership of 800 and one Ash Wed. service, Why then are there not 600 in attendance. We have six hundred show up in weekly attendance. I just don't get it!.

Four weeks from today We will be in route to GA. I am looking forward to the trip. Yesterday the temp in Milledgevile was in the mid 70's and sunny. Soon the leaves will be out and the flowers will be in bloom. I can smell the jasmine now. Georgia is so beautiful in the spring. There is something about the rebirth of life in the spring that is so valuable to ones well being. When God created the seasons I wonder if he created springtime in honor of His Son.

Running late

I am a little behind this morning. Fire needed more attention this morning than normal and that bed sure felt nice. I should have saved all the ashes from the fire this morn. and sold them to the Catholics.
A childhood memory:
Neubeckers coming over on Ash Wednesday with dirt on their forehead.
